Research Legacy: 5 RHS Gold and Silver-Gilt Medals

A decade of evidence-based design at the intersection of human emotion, clinical recovery, and ecological restoration.

MUSICAL PLAYSPACE FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY

Award: RHS Silver-Gilt Medal (Hampton Court)
Made possible by: The Design CIC, Kids Company

Location: Hampton Court, London UK
In collaboration with: the kids of Kids Company
Legacy: Informed the neuro-spatial protocols for the Chelsea 2027 consortium

This seminal project established our foundational principles for sensory landscapes. By utilizing mechanical haptics and analog acoustic pathways, we created an immersive environment that pioneered the concept of responsive play. These early explorations into physical-sensory feedback loops now serve as the baseline for our current digitalized neuro-spatial research for Chelsea 2027.Transitioning from analog haptics to physiological data-mapping, this framework quantifies the cognitive restorative impact of 'quest-based' sensory environments

A GARDEN FOR SURVIVORS OF THE RWANDAN GENOCIDE

Award: Gold Medal (RHS Flower Show)
Made possible by: The Design CIC
Location: RHS Flower Show, London UK
In collaboration with: survivors of the Rwandan genocide
Acclaim: Best in Show

Developed for survivors of the Rwandan genocide, this space proved that a specifically calibrated landscape can influence and engage the deepest psychological states.
By utilizing the environement to deliver a treatise on sadness and compassion, the project established a foundational truth: that spatial design is a primary tool for emotional engagement. This evidentiary baseline now informs our current neuro-spatial research into how digital and physical environments can be 'tuned' to reflect and support the human condition.

MILDMAY MISSION HEALING HOSPITAL

Status: Clinical Healthcare Commission (Completed)
Made possible by: The Design CIC, Mildmay Hospital Mission

Location: Mildmay Mission Hospital, London UK
In collaboration with: staff and patients of Mildmay Hospital

This restorative sanctuary was designed to support neuro-cognitive recovery within a specialized clinical setting. Featuring a symbolic "ribbon pathway" for intuitive navigation, the garden provides a semi-circular social framework that fosters psychological safety and sensory stabilization. This project serves as a foundational study in how immersive landscapes can mitigate the cognitive fatigue associated with long-term clinical care

AN UPRISING OF KINDNESS

Award: RHS Silver-Gilt Medal (Hampton Court)

Made possible by: The Design CIC, Emmaus Cambridge

Location: Emmaus Hampton Court Flower Show, London UK

Legacy: Conceptual baseline for the Architecture of Empathy research stream.

Created for Emmaus Cambridge’s 60th anniversary, this award-winning garden utilized restorative planting to provide a spiritual and psychological refuge for those experiencing social eviction. The design established a physical response to homelessness, using immersive sensory landscapes to foster human connection and dignity—a core principle now being digitized for our Chelsea 2027 neuro-spatial protocols.
